Commitment
Tournament Team
By participating on the tournament team, players and parents agree to follow these mandatory expectations:
- Attendance - Players will attend all scheduled practices, Skills sessions, and games (illness or injury excluded). If you participate in another sport, understand that by committing to this team, you agree to prioritize this schedule over the other sport.
- Be punctual – Players will be dressed and ready at least 5 minutes prior to being on the ice, get on the ice on time, arrive at the rink on time as directed by the coach (typically at least 1 hour prior to game time).
- Conduct – Players will demonstrate respect to teammates, coaches, volunteers, rink staff, parents and spectators both on and off the ice. Bullying behavior, non-compliance, and insubordinate behavior are grounds for suspension and/or dismissal.
- Demonstrate effort – We are looking for players who are committed, self-motivated, and eager to develop their skills. Players will demonstrate dedication by actively participating in practices, attentively listening to coaches without interruptions, practicing skills independently, engaging in conditioning outside of practice, supporting teammates, and serving as a positive role model.
Practices, Skills & Scrimmages
Players are expected to attend all scheduled skills sessions and practices. If unavailable, they must notify the head coach at least 72 hours in advance.
Frequently Asked Questions
Please contact info@nashobahockey.com with any questions about this program.
What are the benefits of participating in the HS Development Tournament Team?
Participating in the HS Development Tournament Team offers players the opportunity to improve their skills through structured training, while also fostering teamwork, discipline, and a competitive mindset. Our goal is to help serious hockey players prepare for high school tryouts and competitive play at the high school level.
If I play another sport in the fall, will I be able to join the Tournament Team?
We strongly encourage players to consider their ability to engage in a fall sport and the Tournament Team. By accepting placement on the team, players agree to prioritize attendance at all practices, games, and tournaments scheduled for the tournament team.
What is the cost of participating in the Tournament Team?
We anticipated the cost of the program to be between $1200-$1500. Tuition factors in the cost of practice ice, scrimmage game ice, referees, and tournament registration fees. Tuition fees will be finalized after tournament registrations open.
Will there be any out-of-pocket costs families should expect to pay for the Tournament Team?
Out of pocket costs include uniform, lodging for tournaments (if needed), and travel to and from tournaments/games.
Are players automatically accepted on the Tournament Team?
No, players must participate in a tryout session and be invited to the team. Selection is based on player skill, demonstrated commitment, previous season engagement and conduct, and willingness to adhere to program requirements by both the player and their parent(s).
Will players be eligible to participate in the weekly Goalie/Shooting Clinics when offered?
All registered players are eligible to participate in the weekly NYHA sponsored Goalie/Shooting Clinic provided that these sessions do not conflict with the HS Development schedule.
What is the process for acceptance to the HS Development Program?
To join the program, players must first register on the NYHA website and indicate their team preference (ie. Tournament Team, Midgets, or both). A non-refundable fee of $150 is due at the time of registration. After registration, players will be invited to attend a tryout session. Players accepted to the team will receive a placement offer by email. To secure a spot on the team, the offer must be accepted, and the registration process completed by the specified deadline.
Is there an option to only register for Skills, Practices, & Scrimmages?
Yes, players who do not want to participate in tournaments may register for Practices, Skills, and Scrimmages.
